Gratomic is focused on mining and commercialization of graphite products specifically graphene based nano material that can be used for a wide range of mass market elastomer and polymer products, including the global tire market. Gratomic is also developing other industrial applications such as lubricants, special rust, and proof coatings.
Mining companies see potential for growth in electric cars. Nissan spokesman Brian Brockman has said there are 57 pounds of graphite in the lithium ion battery of each Leaf. Hains, however, remains skeptical of a surge solely from such vehicles.
Graphite Mason Graphite, a graphite mining and processing company, engages in the acquisition, exploration, evaluation, and development of mineral properties in Canada. It owns a 100% interest in the Lac Guéret graphite property, which consists of 215 claims covering an area of 11,630 hectares located in northeastern Quebec.
But this graphite company is simply restarting a mine that was already in production. Mining stopped there decades ago because graphite prices were in the toilet. The mine it owns has already been thoroughly tested. And it39;s closer to new graphite production than any other company outside of China.
As the world turns to batteries, mining operations will have to expand to meet demand; currently the biggest graphite mine in North America produces just 25,000 tonnes annually. While synthetic graphite can be altered for use in battery technologies, the large amounts of coal required to produce it dramatically reduces its green credentials.
